Department of Aeronautical Science & Flight Operation

The Major of Aeronautical Science and Flight Operation was established in 2012 with 30 freshmen. As to date it is a brand new and prestigious major with more than 50 graduates who, since 2012, became military pilots and 5 graduates joined different airlines during 2018-2020. We emphasize the value of robust aviation knowledge and practical flight training required by an airline pilot as well as a deep understanding of an aircraft. We also provide a cultivation program for students to have a good character in order for them to communicate well with people.

In order to educate well-qualified pilots with global aviation era demands, the Major of Aeronautical Science and Flight Operation offers the following competencies:
First, the cultivation of aviation professionals related to flights based on the knowledge of aeronautical science and flight technique.
Second, understanding of flight core courses such as flight environments, flight principles, and flight procedures and possessing the handling capability of ATC communication.
Third, flight training at an international airport using the latest airplanes and simulators.
Fourth, acquisition of various qualifications (PPL, CPL, MPL, IPL, Radiotelephone Operator’s General Certificate of aeronautic class, EPTA) that must be attained before becoming an airline pilot through the theoretical and flight training courses.

Department of Aeronautical & Mechanical Engineering

The objectives of the Department of Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering is to educate students as engineering specialists in the field of aircraft maintenance and aeronautical parts/system design, in order to deal with a rapid increase in global air transportation demand and vitalize the nation’s aeronautical and mechanical industry in the 21st century. The department therefore runs a curriculum regarding fundamental engineering theories and intensive practical/technical trainings. One of the special advantages of the department is that students can obtain the license of Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic while in college under the government’s approval as a national institute of aircraft maintenance. Furthermore, it is also possible to achieve CATIA International Certificate by running the CATIA ACP (Academic Certificate Program) Center. In addition, students participate in a variety of non-curriculum programs and activities to build up their creativity and acquire advanced knowledge related to their major, and most of them receive various types of scholarships. Possible career paths after graduation are aircraft maintenance mechanics or managers, design and control engineers or researchers of the manned and unmanned aircraft industry.

Department of Aviation Services

The Department of Aviation Service is a department that trains human resources to engage in high-class service positions such as cabin crew and office skills. This department teaches major theories related to aircraft operation and service, and trains students to acquire practical skills in a practice room built with the best aviation safety and service facilities. In addition, by operating various programs as follows, which can equip the office skills necessary for the service field, we aim to lead the improvement of service professional vocational skills to realize students' goals.
1. Aviation Specialization College.
2. Establishment of various air service practice rooms and safety training centers.
(First 4-year university / Airline (Aero K) regular training for incumbent cabin and flight attendants)
3. Establish industry-university cooperation with airlines, airports and service companies.
(Korean Air Ground Service (Air Korea), Asiana Airlines Ground Service (AQ), T'way Air Service, Air Busan (BAS), Aero K, Air Seoul, Eastar Jet, Unies, AQ, etc.)
4. Opportunities for external activities and various on-campus activities.
(A wide range of college life such as protocol activities, PR department, competitions, free TOEIC classes after school, foreign language conversation, RC, etc.)
5. Curriculum tailored to new airline recruitment trends.
(Education related to certifications reflecting trends in airline recruitment, subjects related to airline and service job practice, etc.)
6. Strengthen employment competitiveness in aviation service majors and high-end service jobs.
(Airline cabin and ground positions, train crew positions, hotel service positions, early employment outcomes for prospective graduates in large corporations)

Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The Department of Unmanned Aircraft Systems aims to train engineers who will lead advanced air mobility technologies. The department offers both theoretical bases of the discipline and extensive hands-on experience regarding the overall drone platforms such as design, production, control, operation, maintenance, and software development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to provide enrolled students with the required industry-skills to ensure success. Students have opportunities practical experiences in designing and building UAM/PAV, drones and robot aircrafts by participating in various competitions. After graduation, students can become exceptional contributors to the growing industry as UAVs and future aircraft development engineers, drone operation experts, robot artificial intelligence software developers, and special video/data analysts.

Department of Military Studies

Cheongju University's military department has the first military department building in the country, Chunguigwan, a state-of-the-art lecture system, seminar room, and It has a military education environment such as a physical fitness center, a video shooting range, and a security park.
Since the opening of the department in 2011, 38 graduates have been produced in 2015, and despite being latecomers to the Army Convention University, be fast growing.
Major achievements include the nation's largest officer training college (2014), Texas A&M University leadership training (2014), the nation's largest female ROTC quota (2014), the establishment of a contract department (13th Airborne Brigade) (2015), and the military education environment (independent building, security park, English education) (2013).
In addition, through overseas training (China), basic military education (one month after admission), field trips and security field trips/Dokdo visits (April), visits to military research institutes (ADD, topographic information team, etc.) (October), participation in ground military festivals, and volunteer activities (once a month) and Cheongseongje (November).
It is also striving to cultivate excellent and confident officers through the graduation certification system. The certification requirements accordingly are
Graduation is possible only when you achieve both official English grades (over 700 points on TOEIC), Chinese characters (level 2 or higher), information processing (word, document practitioner, computer literacy level 2 or higher), taekwondo (level 1 or higher), and physical strength (level 1 or higher).
