Our University Was Selected As An Excellent Project Group for The Aerospace Bootcamp

Our university has been selected as an excellent project group in the aerospace field for the Advanced Industry Talent Development Bootcamp, which is led by the Ministry of Education. This recognition strengthens our position as a key center for training future experts in the aerospace industry. Among 32 universities nationwide, ours is the only one in the Chungcheong region chosen for both the aerospace and semiconductor fields, gaining attention as a leading university in hands-on, practical education for advanced industries. Through this five-year boot camp project, we are working to create a strong local talent network that grows with the region's industries.

The boot camp is a short-term, intensive education program to quickly train skilled workers in cutting-edge industries. It is run by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for the Advancement of Technology (KIAT). The program focuses on key national industries such as semiconductors, aerospace, and future mobility. The goal is for universities to work closely with companies to train students with real-world, job-ready skills.

The boot camp started in 2024 and will continue until February 2029. Since being selected, our university has continued to improve its aerospace curriculum. In 2025, the second year of the program is now in full swing.

The aerospace boot camp at our university offers two main tracks. The first covers Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), including drone design and production. The second focuses on aircraft maintenance (MRO) and airworthiness certification training. This is not just classroom learning, it includes real experience in designing aircraft, building drones, and checking aircraft safety and performance through professional training.

Airworthiness certification is the process that proves an aircraft is safe for commercial use. It is especially important for the future of AAM and drone industries, and training in this field is rare in Korea. Our university is actively bringing this advanced education into our program to help students become more specialized experts.

The program is open to both majors and non-majors. Even students who do not study aerospace can join the classes through an integrated curriculum. Students from departments such as Aerospace Mechanical Engineering, Unmanned Aircraft Engineering, Aviation Operation, Electrical Control Engineering, and Data Science are all participating in joint classes and projects. This helps students develop into multi-skilled professionals who can solve problems using knowledge from different fields.

The final goal of our aerospace boot camp is to prepare students to work right away in the industry. The program goes beyond basic theory or certifications. It focuses on building the actual skills needed for real jobs in the aerospace field.

In this second year, the program aims to train 136 students. Last year, in the first year, 120 students completed the program successfully. In addition to classes, students also take part in many valuable extracurricular activities. These include company internships, designing and building prototypes, maintenance and certification training, joining academic conferences and competitions, earning micro-degrees (minor programs), receiving scholarships, and joining job-matching programs. This is not just about building a resume. It is a career development platform that helps students enter the aerospace field after graduation.

Thanks to the excellent results in the first year, our university has been selected as an excellent project group for the second year in 2025. As a result, the Ministry of Education gave us an extra incentive of 75 million won, in addition to the original 1.4 billion won in funding. With matching funds from Cheongju City, North Chungcheong Province, and our university, we now have a total project budget of 1.65 billion won.

A special strength of our program is the strong partnership with companies. Last year, 22 aerospace companies helped design the curriculum and training programs. This year, 27 companies are working with us, including LIG Nex1 and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI). Through these partnerships, students can learn real technical skills and workplace knowledge directly from the industry. After finishing the program, students also get job opportunities through company connections.

This boot camp is expected to bring many benefits. Our university hopes the program will help build a stronger aerospace industry in the region. Although the Chungcheong area does not yet have a large aerospace base, this boot camp is helping build connections with Cheongju Airport and nearby companies to create a new industrial ecosystem. Students also have more career options. Since the program welcomes all majors, more students can discover their interest in aerospace and grow their abilities in this field. It also helps raise the overall quality and competitiveness of education at our university.

Our aerospace boot camp is not just an education program. It is a platform where students, companies, the region, and the country come together to train future talent. With a focus on future aerospace areas like UAM, drones, and MRO, students gain both technical and practical skills. Going forward, our university will continue to support the local talent ecosystem through this boot camp. With industry and education working together, our students are becoming the future leaders of Korea’s aerospace industry. Our university will grow as a key hub for producing skilled aerospace professionals in close cooperation with local industries.

우리대학, 항공우주 부트캠프 우수 사업단 선정

우리대학이 교육부가 주관하는 첨단산업 인재양성 부트캠프의 항공우주 분야에서 우수 사업단으로 선정되며, 미래 항공우주 산업을 선도할 핵심 인재 양성의 전초기지로 자리매김하고 있다. 우리대학은 전국 32개 대학 중 유일하게 충청권에서 항공우주와 반도체 두 분야 모두 선정되어 첨단산업 분야에서 실무형 전문 인재를 육성하는 대표 대학으로 주목받고 있다. 5년간 진행되는 이 부트캠프 사업을 통해 지역 기반 산업과 함께 성장할 인재 생태계 조성을 본격화하고 있다.

첨단산업 인재양성 부트캠프 사업은 교육부와 한국산업기술진흥원이 주관하며, 대학과 산업체가 협력해 첨단산업 분야의 인력을 신속하게 양성하는 단기 집중 교육 프로그램이다. 특히 반도체, 항공·우주, 미래모빌리티 등 국가 전략 산업 분야의 인재 수요가 빠르게 증가하는 상황에서 대학이 현장 맞춤형 교육을 통해 실무형 인재를 키우는 데 그 목적이 있다.

이 사업은 2024년 시작되어 2029년 2월까지 5년간 운영된다. 우리대학은 이 사업에 선정된 이후 항공우주 분야에서 매년 교육과정을 운영발전시키고 있으며 2025년도 현재는 2차년도 사업을 본격화하고 있다.

우리대학 항공우주 부트캠프에서는 두 가지 주요 트랙이 운영되고 있다. 첫 번째는 첨단항공모빌리티(UAM) 및 무인기 설계·제작, 두 번째는 항공정비(MRO)와 감항인증 전문 교육과정이다. 이 교육은 단순히 이론을 전달하는 데 그치지 않는다. 실제 항공기를 설계하고, 무인 항공기를 제작하며, 비행기의 안전성과 성능을 검증하는 감항인증 훈련까지, 현장 수준의 기술을 교육과정에 반영하고 있다.

특히 감항인증은 항공기가 상업 운항에 적합하다는 것을 입증하는 절차로, UAM과 무인기 상용화를 위한 핵심 안전 기술로 평가받는다. 이 분야에 대한 전문교육은 국내에서 매우 희귀한 편이다. 우리대학은 이처럼 항공산업의 미래 핵심 분야를 교육에 적극 도입하고 있다. 이러한 특수교육은 보다 전문성 있는 인재 양성을 가능하게 한다.

교육 대상은 전공자에 국한되지 않는다. 이 프로젝트는 항공우주를 전공으로 하지 않는 비전공 학생도 참여 가능한 융합형 교과과정이다. 항공기계공학과, 무인항공기학과, 항공운항학과뿐 아니라 전기제어공학과, 데이터사이언스학과 등 다양한 학과 학생들이 함께 프로젝트와 수업에 참여하고 있다. 이를 통해 항공우주 산업이 요구하는 융합형 인재, 즉 여러 분야의 지식을 통합해 문제를 해결할 수 있는 실무형 전문가를 양성하는 것을 목표로 하는 것이다.

우리대학 항공우주 부트캠프의 최종 목표는 산업 현장에 바로 투입할 수 있는 실무형 인재 양성이다. 단순히 자격증을 취득하는 것이나 이론 학습을 넘어서, 실제 항공산업 분야에서 당장 업무를 수행할 수 있는 역량을 길러주는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다.

올해 2차년도 사업에서는 총 136명의 인재 양성을 목표로 하고 있으며, 작년 1차년도에는 120명의 교육생을 성공적으로 배출한 바 있다. 참여 학생들은 수업 외에도 다양하고 유익한 비교과 활동을 경험하게 된다. 비교과 활동의 종류로는 기업 현장 인턴십, 시제품 설계 및 제작, 정비 및 감항 실습, 국내외 학술대회 및 경진대회 참가, 마이크로디그리(부전공 과정) 이수, 장학금 지급 및 취업 연계 프로그램 등이 있다. 이는 단순한 스펙을 쌓는 과정이 아닌 직무 연계형 성장 플랫폼으로 기능하며, 졸업 후 항공우주 산업 분야로의 진출 가능성을 높이고 있다.

우리대학은 지난해 1차년도 운영 성과를 인정받아 2025년 2차년도 사업에서 우수 사업단으로 선정되었으며, 이에 따라 기존의 14억 원 사업비 외에도 교육부로부터 7,500만 원의 인센티브를 추가로 지원받았다. 기존 사업비에 더하여 충청북도, 청주시, 대학이 공동으로 출연한 매칭금까지 포함하여 총 16억 5천만 원 규모의 예산으로 사업을 운영하고 있다.

특히 산업체와의 협업이 강점이다. 1차년도에는 항공우주 관련 22개 기업이 교육과정 설계와 실습 과정에 함께 참여했으며, 올해는 LIG넥스원, 한국항공우주산업(KAI)을 포함해 27개 기업이 참여한다. 이러한 협력을 통해 학생들은 현장에서 요구되는 실질적인 기술과 업무 프로세스를 직접 경험하고 학습할 수 있다. 더불어 교육 수료 이후에는 해당 기업들과의 연계를 통한 취업 기회도 함께 제공되고 있다.

이 사업을 통해 기대되는 효과도 다양하다. 우리대학은 이번 부트캠프를 통해 지역 항공우주 산업의 성장기반 마련을 기대하고 있다. 우리대학이 위치한 충청권은 항공산업 기반이 아직 크지 않지만, 이번 부트캠프를 통해 청주공항 및 인근 기업과의 연계가 강화되며 새로운 산업 생태계가 조성될 것으로 기대된다. 학생들의 진로 선택 스펙트럼도 넓힐 수 있다. 전공 불문으로 참여할 수 있는 융합형 커리큘럼은 다양한 배경의 학생들이 항공우주 산업에 도전할 수 있는 기회를 열어준다. 비전공자도 참여 가능한 구조 덕분에 학생들은 항공우주 분야에 대한 관심과 역량을 키울 수 있는 기회를 얻을 수 있다. 이와 더불어 우리대학 자체적으로도 교육의 경쟁력을 높이는 전환점이 될 것으로 보인다. 실습 중심 교육, 기업 맞춤 커리큘럼, 산업 연계형 프로그램은 우리대학이 지역 중심의 경쟁력 있는 대학으로 성장하는 발판이 되고 있다.

우리대학 항공우주 부트캠프는 단순한 교육 프로그램이 아니다. 이것은 학생과 기업, 지역과 국가가 함께 만드는 인재 양성의 플랫폼이다. 특히 미래 항공 산업의 핵심이 될 UAM과 무인기, MRO 분야에 집중하며 실질적인 기술과 실무 능력을 함께 기르고 있다. 앞으로도 우리대학은 부트캠프 사업을 기반으로 지속 가능한 지역 인재 생태계 조성에 힘쓸 예정이다. 산업과 교육이 하나로 연결된 이 흐름 속에서 우리대학 학우들은 대한민국 항공우주 산업의 미래를 준비하는 주역으로 성장하고 있다. 우리대학은 부트캠프 사업을 바탕으로 지역 산업과 긴밀히 협력하며, 실력 있는 인재를 안정적으로 배출하는 항공우주 인재의 허브로 도약해 나갈 것이다.
